Playing for stakes

When you want the game to mean something

Everything that makes ITZA Chess worth playing is free: unlimited games against people at every time control, the whole bot roster, no advertising. This page is about the other side, for players who want to put something on the board. It is a wager, which means you can win and you can lose. None of it is switched on yet.

Two ways to play for stakes

Crown, and Crown & Ransom

The first is the game you already know, with a pot. The second is something no chess platform has done before.

Coming

Crown

Classic, and clean. Two players, one pot, winner takes it. You buy in, you get matched with someone who brought the same, and you play. Win the game and the pot is yours.

This is the mode most people will start with, because it needs no explaining. It is chess for stakes, nothing more.

Coming

Crown & Ransom

A split pot with a twist. Part is winner-takes-all, as usual. The rest is spread across the pieces as bounties, and you collect a piece's bounty the moment you capture it. A queen is worth far more than a pawn. Whatever bounty is still on the board at the end goes to the winner.

So even a losing player keeps what they captured. Nobody has a reason to give up, every trade is a real decision, and every capture is a small payday.

It is genuinely new, it is fun, and it is built to be watched.

Crown & Ransom, in detail

Every capture pays, the win pays most

Picture a pot split two ways. A share of it is the crown, held for whoever wins the game. The rest is loaded onto the pieces as bounties, weighted by value, so a queen carries a large bounty and a pawn a small one.

Capture a piece and its bounty is yours, settled on the spot, yours to keep whatever happens next. Lose the game and you still walk away with everything you took. Win the game and you take the crown on top of your captures, plus any bounty left standing on the board.

It changes how the game feels. A losing position is still worth playing for the material you can grab, a sacrifice has a literal price, and a spectator can see the money move around the board in real time.

Limited launch period

Get in early, build a stack while credits are free

New players get free credits to start, and earn more just by playing. This is a launch-period head start, not a permanent one. Get in while it is running, play, and build up a stack of credits before the free window closes - because once it does, new players have to buy in.

The credits are real and they are yours to play with. As the platform grows and more players join, demand for those credits can grow with it, and their value can rise over time. That is a mechanism, not a promise: it depends on the platform succeeding, it happens gradually if it happens at all, and it can just as easily not.

Nothing here is a guaranteed return, an investment, or a target. Credits are for playing chess. See the disclosure document for the formal position.

Can grow with the platform. Can also not

Standing

Build one real account, not ten throwaways

Reputation grows as you play honestly, and it opens things up as it climbs.

It unlocks as it grows

Higher standing means stronger opponents, bigger tables, and the ability to cash out earned rewards. You are building toward something, not just holding a number.

It rewards being one person

Standing is earned over time on a single account, so the honest path of playing as yourself is also the rewarding one. Starting over throws it away.

It keeps the tables clean

Because standing is slow to build and easy to lose, it is a core part of how the platform keeps cheating and abuse out - progression and protection are the same system.

Honestly, and plainly

How money moves

You should not need to learn anything about crypto to play chess for stakes. So here is the whole of it.

Getting in

Pay with a card. The platform handles the rest in one step, as one number. You do not open an exchange account, you do not manage anything, you do not learn what a gas fee is. You put money in and you have credits to play with.

Getting out

Your winnings are real and they are yours. Taking them out is genuine, not a gimmick - but it is not instant and it is not unconditional. Earned and free credits carry an honest-play requirement first, and moving value out requires verifying your identity. That is the cost of keeping the tables clean.

Stakes are held in the platform's own credit, iCHESS, which has a live market and a floating value rather than a fixed one. Your exposure is the length of a game, not a market cycle: both players' stakes are locked at the same instant at the same rate, so neither can be advantaged by timing. A five minute blitz game is a chess game with something on it, not a position in a volatile asset.
